American Toad

This toad was originally posted as a photo quiz with close-ups of its eye and warts.  I made a reference to the physical description of American toads including their eyes and warts at ADW.    The key descriptions I was focusing on were , the eyes - "The pupils of American toads are oval and black with a circle of gold around them." and the warts -" American toads can be distinguished from other species of toads by the presence of several dark spots on their backs which contain only one or two warts each. These black spots are sometimes circled with white or yellow."  Other notable features are that the elongated parotid glands are separated from the cranial crests and that there is usually dark mottling on the underside.
